hair extension faq

Q: Do you have real human hair extensions?

A: Yes, whenever possible, we prefer to use real human hair.

Q: How much do your extensions cost?

A: There are a wide variety of factors that influence the cost of extensions. They can range from as little as $200, all the way to $1,500. But don’t let the price tag scare you, a consultation is (and should be) always free, and you will get a detailed estimate. The primary factors are:

    1. Experience of the Technician
    2. Length of the extensions
    3. Which attachment system is used

Q: Ok, which “attachment systems” do you use?

A: We have several, and each have their own set of Pros and Cons:

    1. Ultratress UltraLinks
    2. Ultratress UltraStrands
    3. Clip-Ins
    4. Tape
    5. Glue
    6. Sew-in

Your stylist will give you a through consultation on the pros, cons, and which specific system we recommend for your hair and lifestyle.

Q: How long will it take to install the extensions?

A: This also depends on the system used, and the experience of the Technician. In most cases, it will take less than three hours; our average is 90 minutes.

Q: Where are your extensions from?

A: We have a variety of sources; we always seek the highest quality extensions at the most reasonable prices possible.

Q: What can these awesome hair extensions be used for?

A: Three things: 1. Length, 2. Volume, 3. Color, and nearly any combination of these.

Q: How long will they last?

A: Since the extensions are real hair, they can last quite a while. Even longer if proper care is taken. We are able to “adjust” and re-tighten extensions using the Micro-Bead technology pretty quickly, maximizing your investment.

Q: How do I wash them? Do I have to take them out?

A: The Clip-In extensions are removable for washing, but all others can be gently washed when you normally wash your hair. Shampoo at least once weekly from root to ends. Do not aggressively scrub the scalp or hair. Rinse thoroughly.

Q: How do I condition my hair with extensions?

A: Whether or not you have extensions, always condition from mids to ends; avoid conditioner near the scalp, it will weigh your hair down. Afterwards, lightly apply a leave-in conditioner on damp hair. Heavy conditioning should be done every two weeks.

Q: How do I dry my hair while wearing extensions?

A: Towel-blot your hair before further drying or styling. After light-brushing, it's best to allow your hair to air-dry completely.

Q: When should I comb or brush my hair?

A: Gently comb your hair while damp with a wide-tooth comb or "wet brush" (we keep these in stock). Start at the end of your hair and work your way up - NEVER start at the scalp. It is recommended that you brush your hair before bed to avoid matting and tangles.

Q: My hair is pretty long, how should I manage it to avoid tangles while I sleep?

A: For long hair, braid, or gently pull back your hair in a ponytail to sleep, but only after it is completely dry. After you awake, undo your braid or pony tail and brush from ends to roots once more.
